Playing In New Big East Will Help St. John’s Red Storm Dance
The St. John’s Red Storm may have had the talent to make the NCAA tournament last season, but they did not show it on the basketball court, with an overall record of 17-16. However, the Red Storm will be playing in a slightly less competitive Big East Conference in the 2013-14 college basketball season, which will help them make the Big Dance.
It is not like St. John’s really needs that much help because this team will definitely be able to hold its own in the upcoming season, especially since Jakarr Sampson and D’Angelo Harrison will be back. Still, this team will not have to worry about competing against Louisville or Syracuse, among other teams that use to play in the Big East.
There is enough talent in this conference for St. John’s to get some quality wins. At the same time, the conference schedule won’t be as brutal as it was this past season, so don’t expect the Red Storm to finish with an 8-10 record once again. Instead, expect Steve Lavin to finally have some real success with this basketball program.
This could be a very good Red Storm team. Playing in a slightly easier conference will certainly help, but that does not mean that this team will be bad or anything like that. In fact, it will have the talent to challenge for a conference title.
