A Look At Maryland Terrapins’ Alex Len’s Draft Stock

Alex Len

Maryland Terrapins’ Alex Len did not take the ACC by storm in the 2012-13 college basketball season, but he still had a pretty good year regardless. As a result, he will be entering the 2013 NBA Draft. So, let’s take a look at where his stock is right now.

Some mock drafts out there have Len going in the top five. However, I find that very hard to believe and tend to agree more with the mocks that are saying that he will go right outside of the top 10.

Nothing against Len, I just do not think he is worthy of a top five pick in this year’s draft. Whether the case, his stock would suggest that he will get picked up in the lottery.

A big reason for this is the fact that Len is 7’1”. NBA teams tend to draft seven-footers pretty high and this year will be no different. Len is definitely one of the most talented centers in the draft, however, it will be interesting to see where he goes. Nerlens Noel will definitely be the first center drafted, but it will be interesting to see if Len can be the second big man to go.

On the season, he put up 11.9 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game, which was a huge increase from his freshman season.

Len returning to Maryland for another year would have been huge, but that is obviously not going to be the case. Who knows how Len will do in the pros, but his stock is sky high and he has a good chance at cracking the top 10 as a result.
