The Villanova Wildcats are coming off of a season where they made the NCAA tournament. Still, they could very well be one of the most underrated teams in the Big East entering the 2013-14 college basketball season.
Marquette and Georgetown are getting a lot of hype in the conference–as they should–but Villanova is not way behind them or anything like that.

Even Butler is getting a lot of hype, who lost its best player, and Creighton is being considered a force, since Doug McDermott will be back. St. John’s is returning a lot of talent, so it is also being talked about quite a bit.
This is completely fine, but how many people are giving the Wildcats a chance to compete in the new Big East? Most likely, not a whole lot.
Well, the leading scorer will be back, along with some other talented players. This is a Jay Wright coached team, which means it should dance and no one can count it out.
Last season, Villanova beat three top five teams and finished four games back in the Big East standings. That is not bad for a team that was not expected to compete against Louisville or Syracuse. Villanova beat both of those teams last season for the record.
The new Big East is honestly pretty stacked and Villanova would have to overachieve to win the conference, but no one should take it lightly.
The Wildcats are coming off of a 20-win season and they should win even more in the upcoming season. Finishing in the top three of the conference may be bold, but it is still possible.
Whether the case, watch out for Villanova in the 2013-14 season because it will be a tournament team and will beat some big names in the Big East–once again.
