VCU Rams Will Have Exciting Non-Conference Schedule In the 2013-14 College Basketball Season

The VCU Rams will be one of the most exciting teams to watch in the 2013-14 college basketball season, since their best team yet could be taking the court. However, it is their non-conference schedule that could be getting some looks in the upcoming season.

VCU will be playing in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, which hosts teams such as Georgetown, Florida State, Michigan and Kansas State, among others.

The Rams will also play Virginia Tech and Boston College at neutral sites.

With all of these possible matchups, VCU will definitely have to earn a bid for the 2014 NCAA Tournament, but it definitely has the team to do so.

The Atlantic 10 may be losing some teams, but it will still be a competitive conference that earns bids in the upcoming season. However, VCU could very well be the early favorite to win the conference title.

Shaka Smart has his team playing all over the place in its out-of-conference schedule, which is exactly how it should be. However, playing in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off will likely highlight the Rams non-conference schedule. If VCU can come away with the tournament victory, it will have some serious bragging rights. You know, since the Hoyas were a top five team last year, Kansas State was one of the best teams in the Big 12 and Michigan made the national championship.

On paper, VCU should easily be able to handle Boston College and Virginia Tech, but beating two ACC teams right off the bat would definitely look good on the resume. Whether the case, VCU has some tough matchups in the upcoming season, which should have fans that much more excited.
