Oklahoma State Cowboys the Team To Beat In 2013 Old Spice Classic?

Oklahoma State Cowboys

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The Oklahoma State Cowboys are coming off of a great season where they made the 2013 NCAA Tournament as a No. 5 seed. However, will they be the team to beat in the Old Spice Classic in the 2013-14 college basketball season?

Well, let’s meet the other teams in the tourney first. Memphis, Butler, LSU, Purdue, St. Joseph’s, Washington State and Siena will all be part of the field.

Memphis and Butler will enter the season with high expectations and seem to be the only two teams in the tournament that will really challenge the Cowboys. However, LSU is returning some good players and could be a surprise team in the upcoming season.

Still, Oklahoma State will be getting back three players that averaged 14 or more points per game this past season. Not to mention, the Cowboys had four players that scored in double-digits. Well, all four of those players will be back, which will help this team compete for a Big 12 title.

There is a lot of competition in the Old Spice Classic, but Oklahoma State is just too good on paper. That does not mean an upset won’t happen, though, because Memphis is coming off of a 31-win season and Butler cannot be counted out of anything.

This will be a great tournament to get the season started, but Oklahoma State is by far the team to beat. It will likely be ranked in the top 10 to start the season and will have the talent to compete for a national championship.
