Chaz Williams Will Play Huge Role In Massachusetts Minutemen’s Success In Upcoming Season
Although the Atlantic 10 Conference will likely take a step back in the 2013-14 college basketball season, there are still some worthy NCAA tournament teams in this conference. One of those teams is the Massachusetts Minutemen and Chaz Williams is going to play a huge role in the team’s success in the upcoming season.
Williams will be a senior, so big things will clearly be expected out of him in his final year. It helps that he was the leading scoring this past season, with 15.5 points per game. However, the 5’9” guard also grabbed 4.2 rebounds per game and was an assist machine, dishing out 7.3 assists per game.
He will easily be one of the best players left in the conference and the same can be said about the Minutemen as a team.
They will have plenty of competition, though, which will include VCU, La Salle and Saint Louis. All three teams are coming off of very good years and the same will be expected of them in the 2013-14 season.
Massachusetts is not the favorite pick to win the conference, but it will be a threat all season long and should have no problem finishing in the top four of the standings.
After settling for an NIT appearance last season, Massachusetts will easily have a good enough team to make the Big Dance. A big reason for that will be Williams. This could be one of the best mid-majors in college hoops, so get use to hearing about the Minutemen all season long, especially when that thing known as March Madness gets closer and closer.
