The Maryland Terrapins do not usually get the highly touted recruits that the Duke Blue Devils and North Carolina Tar Heels get, but they are still a competitive team in the ACC on a yearly basis. With that said, Maryland’s 2014 recruiting class is already looking solid.

This may be looking way too far ahead, since the 2013 recruits have not taken the court yet, but everyone seems to be all about the future nowadays. Sticking with that trend, three 4-stars are already set to join the Terrapins for the 2014-15 college basketball season, according to ESPN.

It would be great if players such as Dez Wells stuck around that long, but you never know with these college kids these days. Wells was the leading scorer of the team this past season, averaging 13.1 points per game.

Maryland will look to make the NCAA tournament this year, after missing it this past season. With a great season from Wells and other players stepping up, this is very likely, however, the ACC will be very tough, meaning the Terrapins will have to play plenty of great teams on a game-by-game basis.

From the looks of the 2014 class, that consists of two players in ESPN’s Top 100 freshmen, Maryland is set for the near future. It will be interesting to see if this team picks up more players or better ones for that matter. Even if it does not, the Terrapins should have enough talent on paper to do some damage in the Big Ten–will be joining conference in 2014-15 season. However, we will have to see how these freshmen will be used and if they will make instant impacts.
