Colorado Buffaloes Won’t Be Able To Replace Andre Roberson In Upcoming Season

Andre Roberson was a great player for the Colorado Buffaloes to say the least. However, no one will be able to replace him on this team in the 2013-14 college basketball season.

Before someone clicks the panic button and says that Colorado will still have one of the best teams in the Pac-12 and all of that fun stuff, just take a step back–I agree with you. Yes, the Buffaloes have the talent to win the conference once again and yes, they will make the dance for the third straight season.

However, when a player averages 11.2 rebounds per game and is a beast on the defensive side of the ball, no one is going to be able to replace him, especially not in one year. Heck, there may never be as good of a defender on Colorado. That may be a little bold, but that is how talented Roberson was.

From a rebounding standpoint, the next highest rebounder only averaged 5.7 boards per game. Roberson also led the team in steals and blocks. He may have only scored 10.9 points per game, but that is not what the team and fans will miss him for.

Luckily, Colorado still has plenty of talent coming back and should be good for years to come with the type of recruits that it has been getting over the past few seasons. Making the move over to the Pac-12 has been a very good thing for this team–at least for the basketball program that is.

So although the Buffs will compete in the upcoming season, it will not be able to replace Roberson. However, they will adapt and will have to change their game.
