The Houston Cougars are ready to make the leap forward to the American Athletic Conference during the 2013-14 season and alongside their potential year one success is sophomore wing Danuel House.

The 6-foot-7 small forward had an impressive freshman season, which really shouldn’t come as much of a surprise simply considering the fact that he was a top 30 recruit coming out of high school in 2012. This past season, House averaged 12.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game and while those numbers are fantastic for a first year player — don’t be surprised if House takes his game to the next level in 2013-14.

House showcased the star power that could someday make him an AAC all-conference performer, scoring over 20 points on six different occasions including a 28-point showing against SMU during conference play.

House has had tons of hype since his senior season of high school and there’s no denying the fact that he is just now hitting his stride as a player, which only means his upside continues to grow. House could certainly be a 15+ per game scorer next season, so the AAC needs to be on notice now.

Unfortunately from the Cougars’ perspective, Joseph Young opted to transfer, so expectations took a major hit this off-season. However, that could allow House to get more looks in his own right. Not to mention, TaShawn Thomas, averaged 16.9 points and 9.8 rebounds per game this past season, so expectations are also on the rise for the 6-foot-8 forward, as well.

Houston has a dynamic one, two punch heading into the AAC next season. Keep an eye on the name Danuel House in 2013-14.
