Watch Out for Tennessee Volunteers’ Jarnell Stokes In the Upcoming Season

Jarnell Stokes

Jordan McRae will get a lot of hype for the Tennessee Volunteers entering the 2013-14 college basketball season. He did lead the team in scoring last season, so that should be expected. Jeronne Maymon will be retuning to the team and he will also be getting a lot of hype. However, it is Jarnell Stokes that everyone should be watching out for in the upcoming season.

Stokes may have not been the most lethal scorer in the nation in the past season, but he still managed to score 12.4 points per game. His 9.6 rebounds per game were huge for this team.

He did not attempt one single three-point shot, but that is okay, since he does stand at 6’8” and hitting long balls aren’t exactly his thing. However, he did shoot 52.8 percent from the field.

With more attempts, he could increase his scoring very easily.

McRae or Maymon will likely lead the team in scoring, but Stokes will have to put up his fair share of points for the Volunteers to compete for an SEC title.

He is a rebounding machine and he could really go off in the 2013-14 season. He was the second leading scorer on the team and all this past season, so he has plenty of worth to him.

Many people are talking about Kentucky‘s freshmen, but Stokes should be getting a lot of buzz and he very well could be one of the best players in the SEC in the upcoming season, which will help make Tennessee one of the best teams in the SEC and a possible top 25 team.
