By no means will the Washington Huskies be the favorites to win the Pac-12 in the 2013-14 college basketball season. However, there is one player joining the team that could emerge in the upcoming season.

That player is Nigel Williams-Goss. He is a 5-star recruit and is one the most highly rated recruits joining college hoops. If he was going to a powerhouse, I am sure he would be getting more hype, but that is besides the point.

C.J. Wilcox will be the leader of this team, since he did lead the team in scoring with 16.7 points per game. However, Washington is in need of a point guard and I doubt Andrew Andrews will be taking over as the full-time field general. That is all speculation, though.

Andrews averaged 7.8 points per game, three rebounds per game and 2.3 assists per game last season. He very well could receive a lot more playing time in the upcoming season and could have a breakout season, but when a team like Washington gets a highly rated recruit such as Williams-Goss, it uses him.

Williams-Goss won’t be counted on to completely carry the team, although that would be nice. A point guard is so valuable to any team in college hoops, though, and if he lives up to his hype, he very well could have a special season for Washington. However, if the Huskies wait to develop him, watch out for Williams-Goss in the 2014-15 season.

Regardless, Washington is coming off of an NIT appearance and although the team is losing some talent, it will have enough to dance.
