Indiana Hoosiers’ Freshmen Need To Emerge In 2013-14 College Basketball Season

As you may already know, the Indiana Hoosiers lost a lot of talent in the offseason. Who knows if the Hoosiers can have the same success in the upcoming season. However, if that is going to happen, Indiana’s incoming freshmen will have to emerge in the 2013-14 college basketball season.

Yogi Ferrell and Will Sheehey will be back, which helps this team on the leadership side of the ball. Not to mention, both are very good players.

However, those two are not going to win a Big 10 title alone. They may help Indiana make the 2014 NCAA Tournament, but that is not good enough for this program.

Luckily, Indiana has plenty of highly rated recruits coming in. Who knows which ones will shine, but the most likely candidate would have to be Noah Vonleh, since he is a 5-star recruit and all. There are five other freshmen joining the team, though. I am sure that every single one of them would like to make an instant impact, so every single one of them will be working hard towards that goal.

Ferrell will have a lot of pressure on him in the upcoming season, but he showed that he could handle that pressure while being Indiana’s field general last season. He put up 7.6 points per game and 4.1 assists per game as a freshman. However, he is going to have to score the ball more, which should be the case with more attempts.

This is not going to be the same Hoosiers team as last year, but if the freshmen emerge Indiana could challenge for another conference title.
