The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles burst onto the scene this past March, stealing the show in the NCAA Tournament by becoming the first ever No. 15 seed to advance to the Sweet 16 round.
It wasn’t just about the Eagles finding ways to win in the NCAA Tournament that was grabbing headlines however, it was the way that they were winning. Dunk City was officially founded off the hands of numerous alley-oops and rim-rattling slams that instantly made Florida Gulf Coast America’s team this past March. The head philosopher behind Dunk City, Andy Enfield, is gone, taking over the USC Trojans‘ program this off-season, but new FGCU head coach Joe Dooley is ready to embrace the stereotype that the Eagles have become known for.
Well, on Wednesday afternoon, the Eagles landed a commitment from a 2014 recruit who could very well turn out to be the future of Dunk City. Christian Terrell, a 6-foot-2 shooting guard who currently attends Providence High School in Jacksonville, Florida, has committed to Florida Gulf Coast, according to numerous reports.
You may already recognize the name Christian Terrell, simply because of the YouTube sensation that he has become within the past month. One of Terrell’s dunk found its way onto the web and it already has over 1.2 million views — and for good reason too.
Take a look at Terrell’s dunk below:
You don’t need to know a thing about Terrell or his potential to understand that he is an ideal fit with the Eagles and their system. Dunk City and Terrell are a perfect match.
