Highly Rated Recruit Joining Connecticut Huskies Is Great Sign For Program
The Connecticut Huskies will be not be the same team without Jim Calhoun. I was one of many people who thought this entering last year and I was one of many people who were wrong. Sure, the Huskies are not the same, but they are proving that they can be just as successful under Kevin Ollie. With that said, a highly rated recruit joining the team in the 2014-15 college basketball season is a great sign for this program.
That recruit is 5-star Daniel Hamilton. As a result, don’t be surprised when Ollie lures more big-time recruits to play for Connecticut.
However, this is going to be a very important season for the Huskies. They are returning a bunch of talent and very well could have one of the best backcourts in the nation.
If this backcourt meets expectations, Connecticut has the chance to compete for a conference title and a national championship. That may seem a little bold, but that is how talented this team will be in the upcoming season. It helps when four players that averaged 10 or more points per game will be coming back.
Not to mention, Shabazz Napier and Ryan Boatright are stars–both players averaged 15 or more points per game last season.
Calhoun was a great coach and I am sure many people miss him coaching this program, but Ollie has done a great job so far and he could really do some work in the 2013-14 season. Once one highly rated recruit comes to the school, another is bound to join. This very well could be the case for this program.
