Grant Gibbs Being Able To Play Makes Creighton Bluejays An Instant Threat In Big East

The Creighton Bluejays had a great season last year, winning 28 games overall and earning a No. 7 seed in the 2013 NCAA Tournament. They should be just as good in the 2013-14 college basketball season and Grant Gibbs being able to play makes them an instant threat in the Big East.

This conference will be stacked with talent, but Creighton is returning a great team that will make some noise.

Gibbs was granted a sixth year of eligibility, which will help the team out a lot. Last year Gibbs managed to average 8.5 points per game, 4.1 rebounds per game and 5.8 assists per game.

It always helps when one of the best players in the nation returns as well. Doug McDermott will be playing in his final season for the team. He will play a huge role once again, since he did average more than 20 points per game for the second straight season. His 7.7 rebounds per game are also crucial to this team and I think we all get that he is a great shooter.

Shooting 49 percent from behind the arc is amazing, especially when a player makes 77 threes.

So although McDermott will get most of the attention and will have the biggest impact on the team, Gibbs will be a great returning player that Creighton needed.

Now Creighton will be considered a serious threat in the Big East, even though it was considered a mid-major just one season ago. The Bluejays may be playing in a new conference in the upcoming season, but they should be just fine with all of the talent returning.
