St. John’s Red Storm Could Be the Favorites to Win the Big East

St. John's Red Storm

The St. John’s Red Storm are coming off of a disappointing season, but they will still have the talent to make some noise in the 2013-14 college basketball season. With that said, the Red Storm could be the favorites to win the Big East.

This may sound like a stretch, since this team did finish with a 17-16 record last year, but the talent coming back speaks for itself.

Not to mention, Georgetown and Marquette are both losing their best player, which will make both teams much different. Butler is losing its head coach and leading scorer, so who knows how it will be.

With that said, all three of those teams will compete for a conference title, along with Creighton and other teams in the Big East.

However, with D’Angelo Harrison and Jakarr Sampson coming back, along with basically every other player from last year’s team, St. John’s could be the best team in the conference. The talent is definitely there and Steve Lavin is a class act and a great coach.

Sure, St. John’s has not been as good as Marquette or Georgetown over the years, but it will be just as talented in the upcoming season.

The Red Storm need to get off to a hot start, but if they enter conference play on a good note, they very well could be the favorites to win the Big East title. Whether the case, this is definitely a team that everyone needs to watch out for in the upcoming season.
