The Massachusetts Minutemen were not the best team in the Atlantic 10 Conference last year and they did not make the NCAA tournament. Still, this could be a surprise team in the 2013-14 college basketball season.

Massachusetts will have the talent to not only compete in the conference, but it will be good enough to make the Big Dance and make some noise.

It helps that leading scorer Chaz Williams will be coming back, among other players.

Teams like Saint Louis, La Salle and VCU will likely be picked to finish ahead of the Minutemen in the upcoming season, but that does not mean that they will not compete for a conference title.

The talent alone in this conference will help make the Minutemen a better team overall, which will be big come March Madness.

As stacked as the A 10 was last season, a 9-7 record was not too shabby, which put this team four games back in the standings once the regular season came to a close.

There will be some teams in the conference that will be good enough to compete in the NCAA tournament, but the Minutemen will be good enough to be a surprise team in the upcoming season. Finishing in the top three of the standings is certainly not out of the question and having some Cinderella magic in the NCAA tournament could be in the near future.

So sure, all eyes will likely be on VCU and Saint Louis, but definitely keep an eye on Massachusetts in the 2013-14 season.
