Leslie McDonald has been a role player his whole career at North Carolina. He has succeeded in almost every role Roy Williams has put him in, but this season he will be in the biggest role of his career.

With P.J. Hairston suspended, a lot of points are going to need to be accounted for. Hairston was going to be the team’s best scorer and three point shooter in this upcoming season. Now those two roles are open with James Michael McAdoo being the favorite to lead the team in scoring. That leaves McDonald to pick up the slack from the perimeter.

Last season he was great from behind the arc, but that was with him being no real threat to the defense. He shot 36 percent from behind the arc and is going to be able to shoot that same way this season.

He is most likely going to be the lone senior starter. With that being said he is going to have to seize the moment the entire season and step up to be what seniors are supposed to be. Whatever Carolina needs him to do, he needs to be able to do and do it well.

This is McDonald’s last crack at it, and he needs to show it means something to him if he wants to be on a successful team.  His final shot to win a national championship is this season, and he better be giving whatever it takes to get it.
