The Marquette Golden Eagles will have plenty of players that are capable of leading the team in scoring in the 2013-14 college basketball season. However, which player will it be?

Some talented incoming freshmen are coming in who could lead the team in scoring, but I am going with one of the guys that was here last year.

Davante Gardner will lead the team in scoring in the 2013-14 season. He is the highest returning scorer and all. He averaged 11.5 points per game last season in just 21.5 minutes per game, which was good enough for second best on the team. Assuming Gardner gets more playing time, that number will go up quite a bit.

Not to mention, Vander Blue will be gone, so he will be expected to put the ball into the hoop more just because of that fact.

Jamil Wilson very well could lead the team in scoring as well, as he averaged 9.7 points per game in 25.2 minutes per game on average. There is always that chance that someone has a breakout season on this team and leads Marquette in scoring. That could be the case with some of the incoming freshmen.

Whether the case, Marquette will have a great basketball team once again. Earning a No. 3 seed in the dance last year was great and all, but that is kind of expected out of the Golden Eagles on a yearly basis. They are a household name in college hoops and they will continue having success on a yearly basis.

With that said, expect this team to compete for a Big East title and you better believe that they will make the NCAA tournament once again. However, instead of Blue leading the team in scoring, expect to see that guy being Gardner once the new season starts.
