The Pittsburgh Panthers will be losing Steven Adams for the 2013-14 college basketball season and forever for that matter. With that said, they will need to make up for all of the rebounds he grabbed last season. Hopefully that is where incoming freshman Mike Young comes in.
If he can rebound at a high rate, he will definitely play a big role for the team. He is 6’8” and all.
ESPN has him ranked at No. 57 for incoming recruits, so apparently Young has a lot of talent.
Pittsburgh will no longer play in the Big East Conference, but life in college hoops will not be any easier since the team is joining the ACC, which could have three teams ranked in the top 10 to start the season.
The Panthers won 24 games and made the dance last year and they really should have no problem making the dance in the upcoming season. However, this team was not good at rebounding last season, being ranked 138th in the country in that department.
Adams was the leading rebound man with 6.3 rebounds per game on average. At the same time, he did only play 23.4 minutes per game, so it is not like the Panthers will have to replace a guy that was out on the court for the entire game.
Whether the case, Young has the potential to be great for Pittsburgh and he could play a big role in his very first season in college hoops. If he is an efficient rebounder right off of the bat, that will likely be the case.
