Ole Miss Rebels Are In An Awkward Situation With Marshall Henderson

Marshall Henderson

The Ole Miss Rebels are already losing enough talent for the 2013-14 college basketball season. Who knows what will happen with Marshall Henderson, but he has put the Rebels in an awkward situation.

Henderson was suspended indefinitely earlier this summer. If he was any other player, I would imagine he would get kicked off of the team by now, but that is just speculation.

He is by far the best player on Ole Miss and without him the team will not compete in the SEC. Even with him, the Rebels may miss out on the NCAA tournament. His 20.1 points per game were huge for the team this past season and a lot is expected out of him in the upcoming one.

Who knows how long he will be suspended or what will come from all of the shenanigans he has done this summer, but something has to give.

The Rebels could kick him off of their team, but then they would be losing their best player and would probably have no chance of doing anything great next season. They could also keep him on the team and show that college students–more specifically athletes–really are invincible and can get away with anything.

At this point, I am sure Henderson will eventually make his return, if he does not do anything else. That is all fine and dandy, but hopefully one day star players are made an example of when they do something wrong.

Tyrann Mathieu was a great football player and maybe Henderson is not quite on his level yet, but the LSU Tigers did the right thing by kicking him off of the team.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Henderson, but Ole Miss has been put in an awkward situation regardless.
