Saint Mary’s GaelsMatthew Dellavedova may have not been the best player in college basketball, but he was definitely a great one. It seemed like he did not have a shot at the NBA, but he may make a pro team after all.

Dellavedova was invited to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers‘ preseason camp, according to the Herald Sun.

Who knows if he will ever become a starter in the NBA, but he definitely deserves to be on a team. He averaged 15.8 points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game and 6.4 assists per game this past season in college hoops. He drains the three just as good as anyone and shot 38.2 percent from long range and made 86 threes this past season.

With those kinds of numbers, a team would have to be crazy to not want him. Sure, he has his flaws just like every basketball player, other than maybe LeBron James, but he deserves a look and that is exactly what the Cavs have been doing.

It is still probably not a guarantee for him to make the team, but he has made it this far and there is a really good chance of it happening.

Without Dellavedova, who knows if the Gaels would have made the NCAA tournament and who knows if they would have racked up 28 wins on the season.

It will be interesting to see if Dellavedova will have an instant impact on Cleveland, assuming he makes the team, but he likely will not have the impact that he had on Saint Mary’s, at least right away.
