Hopefully This Former Atlantic 10 Player Succeeds For West Virginia Mountaineers

A former Atlantic 10 player played for the West Virginia Mountaineers this past season and that did not work out. Hopefully this time around, former Atlantic 10 player Jonathan Holton can succeed.

Holton once upon a time played for Rhode Island. In the 2012-13 college basketball season he played in junior college. Now, he will be taking his third stop at West Virginia.

Aaric Murray played on the Mountaineers last season and he also formerly played for the La Salle Explorers. Murray had high expectations before joining West Virginia, but his numbers went down significantly last season and now he will not be part of the team in the upcoming season.

Although Holton is a very talented player, he does have some off court issues. Bob Huggins is a great coach, so maybe he can help solve those issues and help turn Holton into one of the best players on the team.

There is a lot of young talent on West Virginia, but last year proved that young talent doesn’t always result into success. The Mountaineers finished last year with a 13-19 record overall and their non-conference record isn’t even worth noting.

Holton could be a great player for Huggins, but I am sure Huggins can only hope that he will work out much better than Murray did. I am also sure Huggins hopes his team will actually compete in the Big 12 in the upcoming season.

It will take a lot to turn this team around, but West Virginia does have a lot of great players that should do much better in the 2013-14 season.
