How Will UCLA Bruins Do In First Season Without Ben Howland?
Well, at this point that is really hard to predict.
The Bruins have two players on their team that could easily be two of the best in the entire Pac-12. Those two players are Kyle Anderson and Jordan Adams. Not to mention, the Wear brothers will be back.
If all four of those players can have good seasons, especially Anderson and Adams, UCLA will compete for a conference title. However, if they do not mesh together, the Bruins will easily finish behind Colorado and Arizona in the standings–maybe other teams as well.
No one can deny the talent that UCLA has had over the last couple of seasons, especially last season. However, talent doesn’t always lead to success on the basketball court.
Adams will score his points just like he did last season. He put up 15.3 points per game, which was good enough for second best on the team. However, he cannot be the only good scoring option.
Whether the case, UCLA is going to have its hands full with the Wildcats. That will be the trend for every single team that Arizona plays this season, though.
The Pac-12 is getting better and better, which is going to make it tougher on the big dogs in the conference.
With that said, I do not think UCLA will finish any worse than fifth in the standings, but I also do not think it will be as good as it was last season without Howland on the sidelines.
Should be an interesting season to say the least.
