The Gonzaga Bulldogs are coming off of arguably their best season in college basketball–at least for the regular season. The team will likely compete once again in the 2013-14 college basketball season and fans should be excited about the future of this program thanks to the 2014 recruiting class already looking solid.

Yes, Gonzaga usually does compete in college hoops and yes, there have only been two players to join the 2014 class so far, but still. Those two players happen to be very talented.

Silas Melson is a three-star recruit, while Josh Perkins (committed to team according to ESPN) is a five-star recruit, is ranked as the sixth best point guard in the 2014 class and is ranked 24th overall.

Both players will likely be the future of the team when it comes to the Bulldogs’ backcourt. Melson is a shooting guard, while Perkins–once again–is a field general.

There is so much to be excited about for this year’s team even though Kelly Olynyk decided to take his talents to the next level. Still, plenty of talent will be back and a couple of players transferred to the school.

The Bulldogs will be good enough to be a top 25 team. Although being the No. 1 ranked team in the nation is likely out of the question, Gonzaga very well could go much farther in the NCAA tournament since it did only make it to the round of 32 this past season.

Whether the case, the future of this team is looking bright, with both Melson and Perkins–especially–set to join the team.
