The Southern Miss Golden Eagles will be losing some talent for the 2013-14 college basketball season, but luckily Neil Watson will be back.

Watson did not lead the team in scoring last season, but he was still third on the team in that category, averaging 9.8 points per game. It is important to note that he did lead the team in assists (4.9 APG).

He also managed to shoot 46.6 percent from the field and 44.2 percent from behind the arc. As you can see by those numbers, Watson can flat out shoot from long range.

He made 57 threes last year and it will be great seeing him shoot from deep once again in the upcoming season.

Southern Miss missed out on the NCAA tournament this past season, but it did finish with an overall record of 27-10 and a conference record of 12-4. Memphis will no longer be in the C-USA, which could be a good or bad thing however you look at it.

Since the team is losing some talent, like leading scorer Dwayne Davis, players such as Watson are going to have to be that much better. With a shot like his there is no reason why he won’t score 10 or more points per game. He is a great field general and he will be a great player to watch all season long.

The conference is now wide open with Memphis no longer being in it and the Golden Eagles could very well take its place by being the best team in the C-USA.
