Creighton Bluejays Could Run the Table In Non-Conference Schedule

The Creighton Bluejays will naturally have a tough conference schedule as a result of playing in the Big East in the 2013-14 college basketball season. However, the same cannot be said about their out-of-conference schedule and they very well could run the table in it.

Creighton’s toughest opponent will likely be against Arizona State or California. Both of those teams could make the 2014 NCAA Tournament, but neither are top 10 teams–at least entering the season.

There is a chance that the Bluejays will have to play another quality team in one of the tourney’s during the regular season, but their opponent is not set in stone yet.

This is a team that will challenge for a Big East title, so you would think that they would at least have a semi-tough out-of-conference schedule. No offense to any of the teams they play, but that is not the case.

In the end, having an easier non-conference schedule will likely hurt the seed that Creighton gets in the dance. It is all about that resume come March and the Bluejays are going to be lacking some big out-of-conference schedule victories.

With that said, it is not like this team will have the easiest schedule in the world. Plus, playing in the Big East will be tough in itself. In the grand scheme of things, Creighton should make the NCAA tournament. It will have one of the best players in the nation in Doug McDermott and really the only thing that matters is having a deep run in the dance.

Being undefeated once conference play begins is always a good feat as well.
