Michigan Wolverines’ Non-Conference Schedule Full of Resume Builders

The Michigan Wolverines made it all the way to the national championship game last season and the same could be the case in the 2013-14 college basketball season? Before the Wolverines can worry about that, they need to get through their tough non-conference schedule first, which is full of resume builders.

Duke. Arizona. Playing those two teams alone would be good enough, but Michigan will also play Iowa State and Stanford. It will likely also play some very tough teams in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.

If the Wolverines managed to beat the four teams mentioned above, they would probably be ranked No. 1 overall. Duke is Duke, which means it will challenge for not only an ACC title, but a national championship as well. Arizona is once again a powerhouse in college hoops and the Wildcats will be good enough to win it all.

Winning one out of two of those games would be big and would provide a really big win on the resume.

Michigan didn’t have to have a tough out-of-conference schedule, but it does anyways. The Big Ten will provide plenty of great matchups and the winner of the conference could decide who one of the No. 1 seeds is in the 2014 NCAA Tournament.

The 2013-14 season may be far away, but it is hard to not get excited about Michigan’s non-conference schedule. If it makes it out alive or with just one or two losses, it will probably have a top 10 ranking and will be in contention to earn a No. 1 seed. However, Big Ten play will be no joke and who knows how much damage it will provide to the Wolverines and every other team in the conference for that matter.
