The Connecticut Huskies are getting a lot of hype for the 2013-14 college basketball season. They will play plenty of great teams to say the least, but what is their toughest opponent in their non-conference schedule?
The answer to that question has to be the Florida Gators. Florida has made three straight Elite Eight appearances and they will be a top 10 team once again this season.
The Gators lose their top three scorers, but big man Patric Young will be back, along with many other players. It helps that Florida will also be getting a couple of talented transfers and the two incoming freshmen are both five-stars (Chris Walker is currently ineligible).
As for Connecticut, it will have one of the best backcourts with Shabazz Napier and Ryan Boatright alone. However, those two will not be alone and the Huskies will be a top 25 team.
Winning 20 games last season was just the beginning for head coach Kevin Ollie. His team will be great in the upcoming season and they will make the Big Dance now that they actually can.
Connecticut will challenge for an AAC title and that is just how it is going to be.
However, beating Florida will not be an easy task. If the Huskies do manage to pull of the victory in that game, they will have one heck of a win on their resume. Even if they do not win the Gators are a great test and will help Connecticut be tournament tested before March Madness begins.
