Memphis Tigers To Have A Very Tough Non-Conference Schedule

The Memphis Tigers will have one of the toughest non-conference schedules in all of college basketball in the 2013-14 season.

The Tigers will take on Florida, Oklahoma State and Gonzaga (among others). Not to mention, Memphis may have to play the Cowboys twice before AAC play even begins. The team will also be part of the Old Spice Classic, which will have plenty of great teams.

The Gators will be a top 10 team and so will Oklahoma State. Those two games are hard enough for any team when it comes to the non-conference schedule, but Memphis will be tested in its second game of the Old Spice and the game after that as well–if it makes it that far.

Gonzaga is never an easy opponent and it did earn a No. 1 seed in the dance last year.

Memphis is coming off of a 31-win season and it is apparent that Josh Pastner has a lot of faith in his team, but why shouldn’t he? The Tigers will have arguably the best backcourt in the nation and they will be one of the most exciting teams to watch all season long.

They did not make it that far in the NCAA tourney last season, but that could be different this year. Before the team can even think about the tourney or conference play for that matter, they have to get through their rough out-of-conference schedule.

If Memphis makes it out untouched, it would/should be ranked No. 1 overall, but you can say that about a lot of teams if they go undefeated in their out-of-conference schedules.

Well, the schedule looks brutal and I hope Memphis is ready.
