The Washington Huskies did not make the NCAA tournament last season, but that could change in the 2013-14 college basketball season. In fact, this team has some big non-conference schedule games that could help out their resume. If they win that is.

Those games will be played against San Diego State, Connecticut and Indiana. All three of those teams could be tourney bound, but two of them will have major questions.

Indiana loses four very talented players and San Diego State loses its top two leading scorers. The Hoosiers could bounce right back if Yogi Ferrell and Will Sheehey can thrive in bigger roles and if incoming players can have an immediate impact.

The Huskies return a bunch and they should challenge for an AAC title. In fact, their backcourt could make them one of the best teams in the nation. That is how much upside Kevin Ollie‘s team has.

Winning all three of those games would be huge, but I think Washington has to at least win one of them if it plans on dancing this season. The Huskies were 18-16 last season and finished 9-9 in the Pac-12. That clearly did not cut it and it won’t cut it in the upcoming season.

Taking care of business in the out-of-conference schedule will be important, but Washington will also have to finish with a pretty good record in conference play.

The out-of-conference schedule could certainly be tougher, but the Huskies will still have a couple of games against talented opponents.
