It is never easy playing the Kansas Jayhawks or the Arizona Wildcats. Unfortunately, the San Diego State Aztecs will have to play both in their non-conference schedule. Which team will provide the tougher matchup?
Well, both could be top five teams entering the season, which also means both should challenge for a national championship. However, San Diego State will get the Wildcats at home and it will take on the Jayhawks on the road. Therefore, Kansas will be the tougher matchup.
You really could not go wrong going either route.
Going this route, though, San Diego State could be taking on the best player in the country in Andrew Wiggins. Has he gotten enough hype yet? Well, if he is as good as everyone is saying that he will be, then no. He deserves the hype. I am sure he will not be a bust. More than likely, he will lead Kansas to a top 10 ranking all season long and to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament (even a No. 2 seed would not be bad).
That is usually what happens for this school on a yearly basis. Wiggins will not be alone, but there will be a bunch of unproven talent on Kansas. It has the tough task or replacing all five of its starters from last season’s team. Without Wiggins, the Jayhawks would not be looked at as a top five team, though.
San Diego State will be losing Chase Tapley and Jamaal Franklin. Ouch. Who knows how the team will do without either, but playing Kansas will be the toughest game of the season. Just imagine how great it would be if the Aztecs could pull off an upset in this game.
