The UNLV Rebels will be losing a bunch of talent for the 2013-14 college basketball season, but they will still play some solid opponents in their non-conference schedule.

Those solid opponents will be Arizona, Arizona State and Illinois.

The game against the Wildcats will be on the road and would be a huge victory to say the least. Arizona will rock one of the best teams in college hoops in the upcoming season and could very well end up winning a national championship. That is at least the hype going into the new season.

The other team in Arizona will not be too shabby either. The Sun Devils return Jahii Carson, who will be one of the highest scorers in the country. He managed to average 18.5 points per game last season. Arizona State could find itself in the Big Dance this year.

As for Illinois, it loses some key players, but will not be an easy out. It helps that the game will be played at home for the Rebels.

Wins in all three of these games would look great on the resume and would likely have UNLV ranked. More than likely, though, the Rebels will lose to Arizona. That is the biggest game on the non-conference schedule, so it could have the biggest reward. However, losing at Arizona will not really hurt the Rebels.

The MWC will be down in the 2013-14 season, so that is why UNLV has to rack up the wins in its non-conference schedule. That is especially true against the better teams.
