The Maui Invitational will be stacked in the 2013-14 college basketball season. One of the teams that will partake in it will be the Minnesota Golden Gophers. This is a team that loses a bunch of talent, but could still be a dark horse in the Maui.

Some teams that highlight the field are the Syracuse Orange, Gonzaga Bulldogs, Baylor Bears and California Golden Bears.

The only real problem is the fact that Minnesota will have to play Syracuse right off of the bat. However, the Orange are losing their best player. If Andre Hollins gets hot, the Golden Gophers are a very tough team to beat. He has the talent and scoring ability to carry his team on his back, which may have to be the case if Minnesota is going to beat the Orange.

In the 2013 NCAA Tournament, Hollins scored 28 points against UCLA and 25 points against the Florida Gators. Those are the kinds of performances that Minnesota will need from him in the big games this year.

Austin Hollins will be back as well. He averaged the second most points on the team last season.

However, the Maui will provide a pretty solid field and Minnesota is losing a bunch of talent. Not to mention, it will have a new head coach. This could very well be a rebuilding/adjusting year for the Golden Gophers, but players like Andre Hollins are going to compete every single night. He is too talented to not keep Minnesota in ball games and if he can have a good outing, Minnesota could be a dark horse in the Maui.
