Michigan State Spartans’ Experience Will Go A Long Ways This Season
Notable returning players for the Spartans will be Keith Appling, Gary Harris, Adreian Payne and Branden Dawson. Harris was the only one out of this group who was a freshman last season, but that is not a problem.
Harris might actually be the most talented player on the team and he could lead Michigan State in scoring in the upcoming season. He averaged 12.9 points per game last season, which was good enough for second best. However, Appling was not too far ahead, averaging 13.4 points per game on the year.
Teams like Kentucky could very well be the most talented in the nation, but Michigan State’s players have already proven that they can succeed in college hoops. Not to mention they are talented as well.
Experience is a big thing in college basketball and any other sport for that matter. However, it especially plays a big role come tournament time.
Michigan State made the dance last season as a No. 3 seed, but it fell short against the Duke Blue Devils in the Sweet 16. Going even farther in the upcoming NCAA tournament will be expected, especially since the Spartans should be ranked in the top five entering the season and could even be the No. 1 ranked team overall.
The returning players clearly have a lot to do with that and it is the experience of this team that will take them a long ways.
