St. John’s Red Storm Will Have A Deep Run In the Big Dance This Season
There is no guarantee that the St. John’s Red Storm will make the NCAA tournament in the upcoming season, but the same thing can be said about any team. However, not only do I think they will make the tourney, but I also think that they will have a deep run.
St. John’s did finish last season with a 17-16 record overall, so that may seem hard to believe for some. The Red Storm will have just as much talent as anyone in the Big East, though, and that talent will finally win some games under Steve Lavin.
The top two leading scorers will return, along with other players. Adding five-star recruit Rysheed Jordan to the team completes the puzzle–assuming he meets expectations. Jordan has the talent to be the best player on the team and that is saying a lot since D’Angelo Harrison will be returning. Harrison put up 17.8 points per game last season.
The last time St. John’s made a run in the dance the year was 1999 and flying cars did not exist. Flying cars still do not exist, but still. That was a long time ago. The Red Storm have only won one NCAA tournament game since. That is quite the drought for a team that has made the Final Four twice.
This year could and should finally be the year that St. John’s makes a run. It has the talent to win the Big East, which means it has the talent to compete with any team in the nation.
