What Needs To Happen For the Ohio State Buckeyes To Win the Big Ten?

The Ohio State Buckeyes will once again be one of the best teams in the Big Ten Conference, but what needs to happen for them to win it in the 2013-14 college basketball season.

That is simple. Ohio State has to find a scorer or multiple scorers to replace Deshaun Thomas. Thomas was a big part of the offense last season and he put up near 20 points per game. Keep in mind that the Buckeyes only averaged 69.9 points per game last season.

Whether if it is going to be Aaron Craft or whoever, someone has to step up on the offensive side of the ball.

This team is going to play good defense like it does every single year. That is especially true thanks to Craft being on the court. Craft averaged 2.1 steals per game last season and is regarded as one of the best defensive players in the nation.

Michigan State and Michigan will put together some great basketball teams and no one can sleep on the Wisconsin Badgers. If Indiana‘s incoming players step up right away, then it will compete in the conference as well. As usual, the Big Ten will be brutal. As a result, Ohio State has to win its home games and steal a couple on the road.

The Buckeyes did win the Big Ten tournament last season and made it all of the way to the Elite Eight. Thomas is gone, but there is still enough talent for this team to compete. There were many games last season where Thomas had to completely carry the team. That cannot be the case in the upcoming season. For one, Thomas is no longer on the team and for two, Ohio State cannot rely on one player again.
