The Marquette Golden Eagles could very well be the best team in the Big East in the upcoming season, which makes sense why they would be challenging themselves in their non-conference schedule.

Marquette will play Ohio State, Wisconsin, New Mexico and Arizona State in the 2013-14 college basketball season. It will also play in the Wooden Legacy.

This will be the typical Buckeyes team, which means it will be good enough to win a Big Ten title. New Mexico returns plenty of talent from last season’s team and will be the favorite to win the MWC. Wisconsin will challenge for a Big Ten title as well and will have one of the best sophomores on its team in Sam Dekker. The Sun Devils may have missed out on the Big Dance last season, but they have one of the best scorers in the nation in Jahii Carson and will challenge anyone they face.

The Wooden Legacy could provide some marquee matchups as well.

As you can see, the Golden Eagles are not afraid of some tough competition and they shouldn’t be. Vander Blue gone or note, the Golden Eagles did make the Elite Eight last season. Losing your best player is probably never an easy thing to rebound from, but Marquette competes in college hoops on a yearly basis and will have the talent to make a deep run once again.

This team will already have the tough task of playing in the Big East, but it still managed to schedule some great out-of-conference games.
