Saint Louis Billikens’ Toughest Non-Conference Schedule Game

Saint Louis Billikens

The Saint Louis Billikens will not have the toughest non-conference schedule in the Atlantic 10, but they will still be challenged in a couple of games. However, what is their toughest game in their out-of-conference schedule?

That is likely a toss up between the Wisconsin Badgers and the Wichita State Shockers. Both teams will be good enough to compete for a national championship, which means Saint Louis could lose to both. However, the Billikens did win the A 10 conference last season and they will be returning some talent.

Let’s go with the game against the Badgers, though, since it will not be played at home. No disrespect to Wichita State. It will be a great team in the upcoming season and it did make it to the Final Four last year.

The Badgers have one heck of a coach in Bo Ryan and they always compete under him. It helps that Sam Dekker has a year of college hoops under his belt and he very well could be one of the best players in the Big 10 in the upcoming season. Leading scorer Ben Brust will also be returning.

As usual, Ryan’s team should be great on the defensive side of the ball and as usual, this will lead to many wins and a trip to the Big Dance.

Since Saint Louis does not have that tough of a non-conference schedule–compared to Kansas or Kentucky–it needs to beat Wisconsin or Wichita State. It will get plenty of opportunities in conference play to get some big wins, but who knows if that will be enough.

VCU should enter the season as the favorite to win the conference. If the Rams do in fact do that, Saint Louis will have to earn its spot. I am sure it will, though.
