Xavier Musketeers Will Not Play A Powerhouse In Non-Conference, Schedule Still Solid

The Xavier Musketeers will not play a powerhouse in their non-conference schedule in the 2013-14 college basketball season, but they will still have a solid schedule.

Games to note on the out-of-conference schedule will be played against Tennessee, Iowa, Cincinnati and Alabama. All four of those teams have the talent to make the dance in the 2013-14 season, but like any other team, will have to earn their bid.

Unless if any of these teams rise up the rankings, which is very possible, none of them will provide a huge victory on the resume for the Musketeers. With that said, beating any of those teams would definitely help out the resume and Xavier–at the very least–needs one win against those four.

Xavier lost a bunch of talent last season, which is a big reason why it finished the year with a 17-14 record. A much better year can be expected out of it in the upcoming season, especially with leading scorer Semaj Christon returning to the team.

The Musketeers’ non-conference schedule is set up perfectly for them to succeed. They don’t play a powerhouse, but they play enough solid teams to crack the top 25. They will, of course, have to win their games for that to happen, though. They will also have plenty of opportunities to win some big games once Big East play starts.

Winning the Battle 4 Atlantis would be huge for Xavier and it will take on a very good Iowa team first. The Hawkeyes made it to the NIT championship game last season, but could be one of the better teams in the Big 10 this year.
