The Illinois Fighting Illini will not have the toughest non-conference schedule in the nation, but they will still have plenty of road tests.
Illinois will play UNLV, Oregon and Missouri on the road in the upcoming season. All three of those teams will be losing plenty of talent and will have their fair share of question marks. There will still be good players on all three, though, so who knows how they will do in the 2013-14 college basketball season.
Illinois will be losing talent as well, including its top two leading scorers from last season’s team.
As you may already know, the Big Ten will feature some of the best teams in college hoops yet again. Some road games of note in the conference for the Fighting Illini will be against Wisconsin, Ohio State, Indiana, Michigan State and Iowa. As you can see, Illinois will be challenged quite a bit on the road whether it be in its non-conference schedule or Big Ten schedule.
That could be a good or bad thing, but it definitely does not help that this team will be losing so much talent.
It finished with an overall record of 23-13 last season and a Big Ten record of 8-10. It would seem like the Fighting Illini would take a step back in the upcoming season, but who knows at this point in the offseason.
One thing is for sure and that is the fact that they will be challenged on the road all season long.
