The Marquette Golden Eagles are a good team in college hoops on a yearly basis. However, they are losing their leading scorer for the 2013-14 college basketball season and they may be losing some respect to start the season as a result. Well, the team will get more love if they can beat the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Don’t get me wrong, Marquette is still getting some buzz. This is a team that is likely predicted by many to win the Big East Conference. If that is in fact the case, though, the Golden Eagles should be ranked in the top 10 to start the season. I doubt that will be the case, though.

They will have two tuneup games before they take on Ohio State. The Buckeyes are also losing their leading scorer, but they will probably be ranked in the top 10 to start the season.

Ohio State will be returning every key piece from last season’s Elite Eight team (other than Deshaun Thomas). It is important to note that Marquette also made the Elite Eight. It is losing more talent, but still has plenty of good players returning and a pretty solid recruiting class coming in.

Both of these teams should be ranked in the top 10 when they meet on Nov. 16, but that may not be the case. However, Marquette can show that it is not only a threat in the Big East, but the entire nation as well.

Winning that game would be a solid resume builder to say the least and would show the college hoops world that the Golden Eagles should not be taken lightly.
