The Michigan Wolverines are coming off of a national championship appearance. They will have the talent to make the title game in the 2013-14 college basketball season, but will be losing some key players. So, who will have the biggest shoes to fill on Michigan?

That depends on how you look at it. If you are looking at it from a scoring standpoint, then Mitch McGary, Nik Stauskas and Glenn Robinson III will be competing in that category.

Trey Burke was the best player on this team last season and he was also the best scorer. His scoring is going to be dearly missed, but McGary, Stauskas and Robinson III are all more than capable of scoring more.

However, Burke’s point guard abilities are going to be the hardest thing to replace, which is why Derrick Walton will have the biggest shoes to fill. There is no guarantee that he will start, but I am sure he will at least get some playing time. Spike Albrecht is more than capable of taking over at the point guard spot, but who knows if that will happen.

Walton will more than likely become the full-time point guard at some point in the season. He is the No. 30 ranked recruit for the class of 2013, according to ESPN.

Not only will he have to replace the best scorer on last year’s team, but he will have to replace college basketball’s best player. Burke was the Player of the Year last season and he was a big reason why the Wolverines were so successful. I doubt Walton will be able to score 18+ points per game in his first season, but he is still a very talented player and should fit into the system very nicely.

It does help that Michigan will be loaded with talent in the upcoming season.

All in all, everyone is going to have to step up for the losses of Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr., but Walton will have the biggest shoes to fill.
