A Look At the Temple Owls’ Non-Conference Schedule
The Temple Owls will likely not be as good as last season’s team and they will be playing in the AAC in the upcoming season. With that in mind, they will be challenged in their non-conference schedule, but it could be a lot worse.
Teams of note that Temple will play are Villanova, Saint Joseph’s and La Salle. The Owls will also play in the Charleston Classic. Temple may have to play a very good New Mexico Lobos team in the Charleston Classic, but it will have to take on Clemson first.
Villanova will be returning its leading scorer and should be improved from last season’s team. May I remind you that the Wildcats upset three top five teams last season (at the time).
La Salle will not be an easy opponent to say the least. The Explorers will not have the same team as last year, but they still managed to make the dance.
The team will also take on Texas, but the Longhorns have been in struggling mode as of recent.
Temple will be without leading scorer Khalif Wyatt and in no way is that a good thing. Wyatt averaged 20.5 points per game last season and he was an absolute beast in the 2013 NCAA Tournament. He put up 31 points twice. Once against North Carolina State and once against the Indiana Hoosiers.
He will definitely be missed and losing him alone will probably mean that the Owls will be in rebuilding mode. Still, they have some opportunities to get some big wins in their non-conference schedule. At the same time, it is not like Temple has the toughest schedule in college hoops or even in the AAC for that matter.
