Who Will Lead the Michigan State Spartans In Scoring?

The Michigan State Spartans will be returning a bunch of talent from last year’s team, but who will lead the team in scoring in the 2013-14 college basketball season?

Keith Appling may have led the team in scoring last year, but that is not going to happen again.

Gary Harris thrived as a freshman last season, averaging 12.9 points per game. He shot 45.6 percent from the field and 41.1 percent from behind the arc. Appling was the leading scorer with 13.4 points per game.

Both players will help make up a very solid backcourt and it is not like Appling is going to fall off of the map or anything like that. He is still the field general of this team and he is still going to score his fair share of points. Harris is just a more talented scorer and is going to show that in his second season in college hoops.

Harris led the team with 65 threes last year and that very well could be the case in the upcoming season.

Adreian Payne also scored in double-digits last season (10.5 PPG), but I doubt that he will get as many touches as Harris and Appling.

Both Harris and Appling will make up a pretty solid scoring duo, but Harris is too good not to score 15+ points per game. He certainly has the potential to do that.

Tom Izzo’s team is still a very solid defensive team, but that does not mean that the offense is horrible. It did rank 152nd in points per game last year, though.
