Who Will the Wichita State Shockers Lose To First In 2013-14 Season?

Wichita State Shockers

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

The Wichita State Shockers made a run to the Final Four last season and they will be returning plenty of talent. However, who will they lose to first in the 2013-14 college basketball season?

The Shockers will not be truly tested until they take on the Saint Louis Billikens. Saint Louis won the Atlantic 10 last season and will have the talent to do so again. Wichita State will also have to play that game on the road.

However, the Shockers will live to fight another day in that battle. That is until the team plays the Tennessee Volunteers on Dec. 14. The Volunteers did not make the NCAA tournament last season, but they will return some of their best players from last year’s team. Not to mention, Jeronne Maymon will also be back. He averaged 12.7 points per game and 8.1 rebounds per game in the 2011-12 season.

Tennessee will have to find a new point guard, but it still should compete for an SEC title and it should make the dance. If Wichita State gets by the Volunteers, then its next toughest opponent will be played against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Crimson Tide will have some talent and could surprise a lot of people in the 2013-14 season. They could not make the dance again as well.

If Wichita State makes it past Alabama, then it could run the tables.

The Creighton Bluejays will no longer be in the MVC, which is good news for the Shockers.

Regardless, I am predicting them to lose against Tennessee first.
