Notre Dame Fighting Irish’s Schedule Set Up For Them To Succeed






The Notre Dame Fighting Irish may be losing some talent, but their schedule is set up for them to succeed in the 2013-14 college basketball season.

No longer on the team will be Jack Cooley and Scott Martin. Cooley is the biggest loss as he averaged 13.1 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per game. Martin managed to put up 7.9 points per game and 5.9 rebounds per game.

Regardless, Notre Dame should cruise through its schedule until Dec. 3. The Fighting Irish will take on a very good Iowa Hawkeyes team on that date. However, they should be 6-0 entering that game. That gives them enough time to adjust to their new team and to gain some momentum in the process.

Iowa made a run to the NIT championship game last season and will be returning a bunch of talent.

After that game, Notre Dame will have a couple of weeks off when it comes to playing tough competition. Then it will play the Indiana Hoosiers on Dec. 14. From there, the schedule will get much tougher. Still, the team has a lot of time to rack up some easy wins.

The Fighting Irish will have it rough once ACC play begins, but they have been a pretty good team in college hoops over the years. Plus, they will have enough talent returning to make some noise. This includes leading scorer Jerian Grant, who averaged 13.3 points per game and 5.5 assists per game last season.

Notre Dame will not have the easiest schedule in the world, but it is set up for it to succeed early on.

North Carolina vs. Boston College: The No. 9 Tar Heels were thoroughly tested in their 68-65 win over the Eagles.
