Will the North Carolina Tar Heels Live Up To Their No. 11 Ranking?

North Carolina Tar Heels

The North Carolina Tar Heels could be one of the best teams in college basketball this season and the rankings would likely agree. The Tar Heels are ranked No. 11 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, but will they live up to their ranking?

North Carolina will have plenty of chances to show that it is the real deal in the upcoming season. It will take on Michigan State and Kentucky during the regular season. The Tar Heels might also have to play the Louisville Cardinals.

Those three games alone will be brutal. Kentucky is ranked No. 1, Michigan State is ranked No. 2 and Louisville is ranked No. 3. Winning one of those games would probably push North Carolina into the top 10 and winning all three of them would have it ranked No. 1.

If the incoming freshmen live up to their hype, then North Carolina will easily live up to their No. 11 ranking and then some. It helps that James Michael McAdoo and other players will be returning. The biggest question entering the season will be P.J. Hairston. When will he be back from suspension in the 2013-14 season?

Whether the case, Hairston is a very important piece to this team. He led the Tar Heels in scoring last year with 14.6 points per game. On paper, North Carolina is easily one of the best teams in college hoops. It disappointed last season, but it has the talent to be a top five team and it will live up to its preseason ranking.
