The Duke Blue Devils will enter the 2013-14 college basketball season by being ranked No. 4 in both major polls. You could say that they are getting some hype entering the new season. They should have a lot of motivation entering the first game of the year, but they could actually be playing in a trap game.
Duke plays the Kansas Jayhawks on Nov. 12. Talking about Christmas coming early. Both teams will be ranked in the top five in the AP and both teams will be playing that game like it is for a national championship. The game really didn’t need added hype, but it will be extra special since Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker will be going head-to-head. Wiggins is the No. 1 recruit in the 2013 class and Parker is the No. 2 recruit.
Fans are probably looking so forward to that matchup, but the Blue Devils shouldn’t even be thinking about it. They open up the season on Nov. 8 against a very good Davidson team. I am not saying that Davidson will pull off the upset, but still. Duke is going to look much different in the upcoming season and will have to replace the top three leading scorers from last year’s team.
In no way will the Wildcats be as talented as Duke, but they will still be the favorites to win the Southern Conference. Duke wouldn’t have to worry about this game in a world where there is no upsets, but it is not living on that world.
The Blue Devils will more than likely win that contest. Davidson will be outmatched, not as talented and it will have to play at Cameron Indoor Stadium. However, they call it a trap game for a reason. Hopefully the Blue Devils can pull off the victory, but I am sure that will be the case since they are huge favorites in that game and one of the top teams in college hoops
