VCU Rams Have Been Disappointing So Far

Wasn’t this supposed to be the best VCU Rams team of all time? Well, that has been far from the case so far and the Rams have actually been pretty disappointing.

VCU started the season off with a bang by knocking off the Virginia Cavaliers, who were ranked at the time. Then the Rams lost to an unranked Florida State team by 18 points. Ever since then, Shaka Smart‘s team has lost two more games.

I figured this team would have the chance to go undefeated in their non-conference schedule, but that has clearly not been the case. I mean, the Rams managed to lose to Northern Iowa. No offense to the Panthers, but they already have six losses. As a result, that loss does not look good for VCU. That can be said about basically any loss, though.

It’s not like this team is doing absolutely horrible. However, the expectations were very high entering the season, which is why it was ranked as high as No. 14.

VCU isn’t even the team to beat in the Atlantic 10 anymore, although that could change in a heartbeat.

I am sure VCU just wants to make the dance and that is really all that matters. Basically any team has a shot at the national title as long as it makes the field of 68. Well, almost any team because I doubt this will be the year that a 16-seed finally beats a 1-seed.

This still could be the best VCU team yet. It is still very talented, but already has three losses. I wasn’t expecting this team to have three losses the entire season. It would be great if Smart’s team ended up winning the A 10 and then went on a deep run in the dance. No matter how you look at it, though, the Rams have been disappointing so far.
